Types of Family

1.  nuclear family: Mother, father and children living as a unit 
2. extended family: a family that extends beyond the nuclear family, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other relatives, who all live nearby or in one household.
3. single parent family: one parent family, a family with only one parent​
4. Grandparent family: children living with one or more grandparents 
5. stepfamily: a family in which at least one partner has children from a previous marriage, living either in the home or nearby
6. Adoptive family: a family where the parents have adopted a child who is not biologically related to them
7. same-sex family: two same sex parents and their children
8. Childless family: Couple without children.
